InMotion - Pricing plans At the time of writing, InMotion was having several discounts on their different plans (up to 43% off), so depending on when you sing up, your pricing may differ. InMotion advertises a quite extensive list of features, including; free backups, PHP 7 support, SSH access, unlimited disk space and unlimited bandwidth. While their “Launch” package should be enough for most casual users, if you’re looking for better performance and better support, the “Power” or “Pro” package might interest you more.

InMotion - Wordpress features The 3 packages that InMotion offers are specificly optimized for Wordpress, which should get you up and running within a few minutes.

InMotion - Domain setup Every package that InMotion offers include a free domain, the first step of the setup allows you to either choose a new domain, or use an excisting one which you already own.

InMotion - Wordpress install Continuing with the setup, you’ll be asked to choose a location for the data center, since there wasn’t any information regarding this, I went with the default option. You’ll also be asked which content management system you want to install, this is slighly confusing as we already choose the Wordpress hosting plan, so having it selected by default would’ve been nice. Selecting to install Wordpress doesn’t change the price.

InMotion - Payment In the next step you’ll be asked to either sign in with your InMotion account, or create a new one. Since I was a new customer, I created a new account by inputting my email. The final step of the process is inputting your personal information and selecting the right payment method. You can choose between credit or debit card, or by U.S. purchase order or check.

Once I paid for my subscription I was left in the dark, I couldn’t find any email about my recent purchase and wasn’t sure how to proceed. After speaking to the support staff, they informed me that a phone call is required to activate my account, this would take about 10-20 minutes.

Unfortunately after waiting for more than 30 minutes I didn’t receive a phone call yet, upon contacting support they informed me that it could take longer and that they would request my ID card and credit card in order to activate my account.

At this point I decided to request a refund and void my order.

Automated Backups

InMotion offers automated backups. They allow you to restore your account from a backup once every 4 months, if you do need to restore multiple times, an extra $49 fee will be applied.

After I signed up and paid for my subscription, I didn’t receive any further emails, so this was a good time to check out their support. InMotion has a quite extensive support center with frequently asked questions and tutorials. There is a link all the way on the bottom to talk to their support staff.

The support staff was very responsive and friendly and they were able to help me with the questions I had.

Cancel Subscription

I was able to void my order due to the complicated activation method.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to fully get my Wordpress site up and running due to their complicated activation procedure. While I can’t give a fully review the Wordpress hosting InMotion provides, by looking at their features it all looks fairly default and in line with what others are currently offering.
